Engagement Photos - The plus side of having a photo session

lake tahoe engagementsWe hear from couples all the time about whether or not they should have engagement photos done.  We feel it is important to have these photos once you become engaged and there are some very valuable reasons why.

Most couples haven’t been professionally photographed before their engagement and this is a perfect opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding.  It also allows you to build a relationship with your photographer before those wedding photos are taken.  It will make  a difference in the outcome of your wedding photography.  Your photographer will be able to take note of your interactions, personalities and quirks, which will in turn help them to capture images on the day of that are unique to the two of you.

Pick a meaningful location for the shoot – where you had your first date, where you were engaged, somewhere you both spend a lot of time, or an interest the two of you share – you’ll feel more comfortable and the pictures will be more meaningful to you in the years to come.  You get to know your photographer long before the wedding and familiarize yourself with her shooting style.  You can let him / her know long in advance angles or styles that you don’t care for so that they will capture only the best on your wedding day!
You may want to think about having a trial hair and make up session at this time so you can see how it would look in your photos on your wedding day and adjust it if you so desire.

At Lake Front Wedding & Events we’re in the business of destination weddings.  We have thousands of couples from around the US and beyond that come to Lake Tahoe for their wedding every year.  Even though you’re coming from afar you can still have engagement photos done at the lake!  Plus, we have a pretty nice backdrop for your photos (the lake, the mountains, the beach).

You can send them to your hometown paper to announce your marriage – mom and dad are usually the biggest fans of this!  They can be used in your wedding program, invites or save the date cards.  We heard of a really cool idea where the engaged couple put their engagement photos and wedding date information on magnets and sent them to friends.  What a great way to keep the date fresh on everyone’s mind!  The photos are also used in photo albums, wall collages or in frames.  They can also be matted and you can have your guests sign this photo instead of a guest sign in book.
Our professional photographers at Lake Front Wedding are available for engagement sessions as well as wedding photography.  They are experienced and knowledgeable and can help your with all of your photo needs.  Contact us to book your session.
