Country Club Wedding - the Ideal wedding Venue for an upscale event

If luxury and elegance is high on your list of priorities for a Lake Tahoe wedding, we have just the right wedding venue to suit your needs.

Our Country Club Venue is currently the most popular place for a beautiful and elegant wedding in Tahoe. Here are just a few of the reasons why:

Location, Location, Location - Nestled right on the shores of South Lake Tahoe with a stunning view of Tallac and surrounded by an award winning golf course, the country club setting is breathtakingly beautiful , to say the least.  While still centrally located and only a few blocks from Stateline, it is ideal for the couple who want their guest to be able to experience the beauty of Tahoe as well as the excitement of the casinos.

Private Venue - Unlike many other lakefront wedding venues in South Lake Tahoe, the country club is completely private and secluded with no other business's or private homes nearby.  When you stand on the beach and say your vows you won't have to compete with the loud noise of a jet ski on the lake or a group of tourist walking by.  You will feel like Tahoe is your private retreat for you and your guest to enjoy.

Award Winning Cuisine - When hiring an executive chef, the country club searched high and low for the ideal candidate who could create delectable and scrumptious food for even the most discerning palate. A reception at the Country club means your guest will be served some of the finest cuisine Tahoe has to offer.  In 2011 the Country Club was awarded  the Open Table Diners Choice Award for the Most Scenic Restaurant in the Untied States, so as they enjoy the fine cuisine they can also enjoy one of the most gorgeous views in the county.

Offers Weddings Year Round - Being heavy snow town like Tahoe, many of the best venues close their doors and hibernate until the snow melts. The country club, however, is open year round and has two main event rooms where a bride can get married indoors or out.  No hassles worrying that the weather might turn bad and your outdoor Tahoe wedding might suddenly be postponed.  Brides can choose to wed on the grass lawn, on the beach, the stone terrace, or in one of the event rooms that have large cathedral windows and offer a stunning view of Tahoe.

A Wedding Venue Offering Both Weddings and a Reception - Nothing can be more of a hassle then worrying about the logistics of your wedding guest on your wedding day.  Shuttling your guest from a wedding venue to a different location for the reception is not only a hassle but a headache.  A venue such as the country club, that offers both the wedding and the reception, is ideal for the couple who want a hassle free event where guest can relax and enjoy themselves.

Tips to help plan a stress free Lake Tahoe Wedding

Planning a perfect wedding can be an overwhelming ordeal.  Often enough, what is meant to be the most important day of your life ,can suddenly become a stressful affair if you’re not careful. With all the chaos of the day and so many details to handle, it’s easy nearly impossible to not stress out over the tiniest of things.  When planning your spectacular Lake Tahoe wedding, it’s important for brides and grooms to remember the most important aspect of the day; you’re about to unite with the love of your life. Nothing else matters.  If you find yourself losing site of this on you’re wedding day, its important to stop…be still.. and breathe.

Here are some other tips to help keep the stress and worries at bay;
  •     Give yourself plenty of time to plan the event -  When you’re in deep in a state of romantic bliss the last thing you want to do is wait to marry the person you love.  I’m sure if most women could have the perfect wedding arrange and waiting, the moment they say I do, they would gladly hop in their dress and head straight down the aisle.  But that’s not how it works.  Planning a wedding takes time. In order to find the best wedding venuefood, dress, flowers and all the other stuff that goes along with a great wedding, is wise to give yourself plenty of time to prepare.  Doing so will ensure you do not become more and more stressed and disappointed leading up the event.  If you’re unable to give yourself enough time to plan a wedding than consider hiring a professional wedding coordinator.  Their expertise and seasoned experience will alleviate most of your wedding day stress.
  •    Don’t be shy about asking for help -  A wedding is a huge undertaking.  Most brides don’t even know where to begin when they start planing their wedding.  You might want to be the Wonder Woman who does it all and hardly breaks a sweat, but with such a large ‘checklist’ to tackle, sometimes it’s best to let go and allow people to help.  Whether it be your mom, best friend, or a wedding coordinator, it’s important you don’t try to take it all on yourself, otherwise, you might have a case of ‘bride burnout’ by the time your big day rolls around.
  •    Be flexible - Weddings are similar to childbirth.  You might have the perfect plan laid out for the day, but things don’t always go as planned.  If you accept this as a possibility and make a choice not to get upset, you will save yourself much grief when small things begin to change.  If you find yourself crushed because you cannot get the wedding venue you want for the date you selected, or the dress of your dreams is out of your budget, remember the most important fact: you did get the partner you want for life! That’s all that matters!
  •    Make time for yourself - This suggestion confuses many brides.  I mean after all you’re planning your wedding.  Isn’t is ALL about you! The reality is, in the months leading up to the wedding,  many brides can become so consumed by the event they completely ignore their personal needs in the process.  Take at least 30 minutes everyday leading up to the event to just focus on yourself and and how you’re feeling.  Start a daily ritual, such as taking a morning walk, or sitting down to slowly enjoy your coffee while listening to your favorite song, and be sure to do it the day of your wedding.  It will make you feel more centered and calm as you prepare to walk down the aisle.
At Lakefront Wedding we’ve committed ourselves to providing you the best service and resources for making your wedding a stress free and happy event.  Our team of dedicated professionals cover every detail and helps you meticulously plan out your big day so your only concern is showing up and looking your best.  Contact us today and find out how we can help you with your Lake Tahoe Wedding.

Ideas for a great Springtime Tahoe Wedding

Congratulations! You've answered the biggest question of your life, been given the ring and now it’s time to plan your celebration. Marriage represents a new start and fresh beginnings and what season better represents those things than spring. When choosing ideas for your lovely spring wedding, there are a few things to take into consideration;

Flowers- When it comes to Spring Weddings, flowers are rarely found just in the hands of the bride. Wedding cakes covered in flowers, flower themed wedding invitations or flower wedding favors are all ways to incorporate springs favorite bounty into your special day. Most flowers have meaning associated with them so choosing a flower that you not only love, but that has special meaning, will only add to the event. For example, Red Tulips, a spring favorite, are said to represent True Love, while Pink Tulips represent happiness and a deep caring for one another. Interested in centerpieces that have Both? Not a problem. At Lake Tahoe Weddings, our skilled team can help you find the perfect flowers to accentuate your amazing Tahoe Wedding.

Color Choices- Nothing sets the tone for your big day like the colors you choose to intertwine with the event. Pastel Colors, which pop up in the spring such as light pinks, yellows, and soft greens, provide excellent options for bridesmaids dresses, flowers, centerpieces, linens or just eye catching decorations. We found some great ideas at Martha Stewart for pastel colored, spring themed weddings.

Location- In Lake Tahoe, spring enters fresh off the heels of the snow and is always anxious to finally make an appearance. The beautiul Sierra Mountains that surround pristine Lake Tahoe are still covered with snow remnants on their high peaks. The weather is warm during the day in the sun with a crisp mountain air that creeps in at night. Wether you choose to have an indoor or outdoor wedding, we offer a variety of gorgeos wedding venue options to choose from. Perhaps you're a bride and groom who want a small intimate wedding surrounded by nature. The breathtaking shorline of Lake Tahoe, or a lookout in Emerald Bay, both offer the perfect spot to be surrounded by your most intimate friends and family.

Perhaps you want a larger wedding, with a more polished and sophisticated feel. You love the idea of an outdoor wedding but want your older guest to be comfortable indoors. Edgewood offers a bright, sunny, open location, with high glass windows that have a gorgeous view of Lake Tahoe. The warmth of spring pours in and fills the room and allows you to take in the breathtaking wonder of Lake Tahoe.

Whatever type of location you prefer, contact us today to help you plan your perfect wedding.

It’s time to make your wedding flowers bright, your wedding dress timeless and dress up your wedding party with style! Take the time to create memories that will last a lifetime and most importantly enjoy your big day! Let our team take care of any worries involved with planning your wedding. This is afterall a new beginning! Enjoy it!

Wedding traditions are as old as the act of getting married itself. Often enough they have superstitions tied to them, such as the bride wearing white to symbolize purity, or the groom being unable to see the bride the morning of the event or else it's bad luck. You have probably heard the phrase – “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, sixpence in my shoe”. What do these things mean? Where did it come from? This rhyme came from an old English proverb meant to ward off evil. Today brides see these things as nothing more than a good luck charm to their wedding day.

Something Old – This tradition is from the Victorian era and relates to the bride’s former life and her family before she met the groom. It is not only to remind the bride of her past, but also to bring her good luck. It was usually a piece of fabric or a hanky tucked into the underclothes of the bride.

Something New – This tradition represents a new life and a hope for the future. It is a good luck charm for the promise of a wonderful married life with her new husband. The wedding gown is often chosen for this item. Although the bride can buy something small to carry with her, to put in her hair or wear elsewhere if desired.

Something Borrowed – Usually something borrowed from a happily married friend. It is meant to convey luck that the couple will live happily ever after. This item is usually something small, such as a piece of jewelry. The item borrowed has to be returned to the owner to ensure good luck.

Something Blue – This is intended to express purity, fidelity and love. This tradition began in ancient Israel when the bride would wear a ribbon of blue to symbolize the fidelity and faithfulness to her mate. In some cases, the groom would also wear a blue ribbon.

Sixpence in your shoe – The least know phrase from the original saying; this tradition is expected to give the couple a chance at good fortune and success in their marriage. Some brides today put a penny in their shoes as a good luck token, although this custom is observed mostly in European countries and Great Britain.

If one chooses, each of the good luck items can be combined, such as a bride could borrow an old object, or buy a new blue garter to wear. The choice is up to the bride and the most important aspect is that she have fun with the tradition and make it her own. Perhaps something old is the wedding venue? Consider getting married somewhere like historical Valhalla that was built in the 1920's and has rustic charm, including the original stone fireplace.

Struggling to incorporate something blue into your big day? No problem! A wedding on the shores of gorgeous Lake Tahoe might solve the problem. After all, some people believe that the native Washoe Indian translation for Lake Tahoe is "Big Water" or "Big Blue". With varying shades of blue in the lake, as far out as the eye can see, you can easily cross blue off your list.

The Current "HOT" theme for weddings in Lake Tahoe: Shabby Chic!

With Pinterest gaining popularity as the ultimate sharing place for wedding ideas, we’re seeing many brides interested in a lot of the same ideas.  A very common theme we’re hearing from our Lake Tahoe wedding couples this year:  I want a shabby chic wedding!  Shabby chic also refers to vintage and we have a lot of great vintage and shabby chic wedding ideas!
Shabby chic is an easy, do it yourself theme, which helps create a beautiful and unique wedding while also keeping costs down.  We started a Shabby Chic wedding board on pinterest
  • Tiffany Blue Hydrangeas as your wedding flower
  • Mason Jars as centerpieces, either filled with branches and wildflowers or candles
  • Chalkboard painted anything for signage or directions
  • Branches to enhance the decor
  • Ribbons and lace on tables, chairs and around the wedding venue
There are great Lake Tahoe wedding venues where the shabby chic theme can work very well.  Imagine our Paradise Park wedding venue with its grasses and trees, filled with mason jars, flowers and ribbons hanging from the chairs.  Or, imagine the romantic, vintage look surrounding our historic estate wedding venue.  The venue already speaks vintage and romance with its high fireplace, authentic wood floors and walls and wrap around outside deck.
Since our wedding planners have a head start on shabby chic weddings they can help you with all of your Lake Tahoe wedding plans.  Contact them today and get your shabby on!

What are commitment ceremonies?

Commitment ceremonies can mean many different things to different people.
  • For some, its the ability for a couple to declare their love for one another publicly where the law prohibits marriage.
  • For others, its where a couple celebrates their devotion without the legally binding contract of a marriage.
No matter which meaning is relevant, rituals and ceremonies are important events in our lives.  The moment we officially proclaim to the world our love for each other can take the form of a wedding or a commitment ceremony.

While more common among same sex and transgender couples, commitment ceremonies are gaining popularity with heterosexual couples who choose to commit to loved ones without signing a marriage certificate.
A Lake Tahoe couple recently had a commitment ceremony to show their kids that they are committed to each other.  Each member of the family took part in the sand ceremony. Here is their story in pictures:

Your Wedding Budget

lake tahoe weddingsDid you know that the average cost of a wedding in the United States is now $25,631?  And that is the cost before the honeymoon expenses are figured in!  Of course, not all weddings need to be that expensive, and our Lake Tahoe weddings are priced to meet all budgets, from a few hundred dollars to several thousand.
Now that you have set the big day you need to figure out your budget.  Once the budget has been determined you can start prioritizing and figuring out what is important to you in your wedding.  If others are helping pay for the wedding, an early determination of who is paying what will help all go much more smoothly.

  • The Dress: Is a Vera Wang wedding dress what your heart is set on?  Or, is Kate Middleton’s $400,000 dress more like it? Many women start dreaming of their wedding dress from the time they are a young girl so many aren’t willing to cut any corners in order to get the right dress. But, there are many economical choices should you so desire.
  • The Venue: You want a drop dead beautiful location for your wedding, but are you willing to pay the cost? Or, will you switch your ideal wedding from a $10,000 day rental fee to one that will cost you several hundred?  Lake Tahoe wedding venues may just look expensive due to the million dollar views, but the price tags don’t come close!
  • The Guest List:  Are you planning on having 100′s of guests or just a handful? The higher the guest count the higher the price tag, so determine if this is one area you don’t want to scrimp on.
  • The food:  Do you want a full sit down dinnerappetizers or just champagne and cake?  Any option is a great one so don’t feel obligated to feed your guests steak, lobster and Dom Perignon unless that is what your budget allows. Do you want a cake that would make the Cake Boss drool in envy? Lake Tahoe is blessed with great bakers who have many size (and price) cakes to choose from.
  •  The flowers:  You can get fabulous fresh wedding flowers to meet all budgets as well as artificial or silk flowers that can be rented. Determine if this is an area you can cut your budget on or if you want to go all out on costs.
  •  The reception:  Where do you want your reception to be held?  At a restaurant, the town hall, the beach or a park?  Lake Tahoe has many reception venues as does any other location so don’t limit yourself to just what you know.  Your wedding planner will be able to make suggestions to meet your budget.
  • The music:  Is your heart set on that band who had a #1 hit last year or would you be just as happy with a DJ or even a CD Player? This is another area that has a broad range of excellent choices. \
  • The photography:  Is a disposable camera enough or would you like to hire a professional?  For many couples, this is one of the most important expenses since photos, along with the memories, are meant to last. Maybe you have a family member that is a professional and offering you the photos as a gift.  Great..that frees up the money you would have spent to go into another area. Do you want videography?  Lots of decisions to make, so the sooner you know what path you’re taking, the better off you’ll be on keeping on budget.

Start a list and decide what is most important to you in your wedding and work your way down to what is the least important.  Decide on what your budget is and start planning.
Your wedding planner can help you put these seemingly daunting tasks into perspective and help you plan the perfect wedding day!
